The prime purpose of an access control system is to regulate and monitor access at each door. From 24 hour access, to time-zone limited access, to no access, you set specific conditions that apply for each individual at every door. Allow office employees to enter via the lobby door after 8:00 a.m.; allow factory employees to enter via a side door after 7:00 a.m., and only if a supervisor has arrived. Set the lobby door to automatically unlock from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. allowing visitors unrestricted access to the reception area. In the event that staff is delayed by bad weather or an emergency Keyscan's ‘First Person In’ feature keeps doors locked until an authorized individual has arrived to unlock the door.

One of the most beneficial features of a Keyscan system is its ability to control multiple buildings - even if they’re in remote locations. All you need is a modem or network (LAN/WAN) connection. Regardless of where the buildings are situated, be it across the street, across the city, or across the country, you retain complete control over every site. With Keyscan’s dual connectivity format you can employ modem and network connections for greater flexibility to setup and regulate control of your facilities. Any number of buildings can be controlled from a single location or multiple locations. Our modular structure allows you to quickly and easily integrate new buildings into your access control system as you grow.

If your organization uses keys to lock doors, Keyscan can offer you two distinct advantages – better security and potential cost savings.

Keys can’t be regulated and if they are lost or stolen can pose an immense security threat to your organization unless new locks are installed. For large companies, this can be an expensive and time consuming proposition. With a Keyscan system, each individual is issued a card for accessing doors or elevators.

Each card can be regulated so you control access. And, if a card is lost or stolen, it can be cancelled in seconds rendering it useless. It’s more economical and much quicker to issue one new card than to call in a locksmith to re-install new locks and issue new keys.

Wireless Access Controller.
When you need to control the door but can't get wire from the panel to the door.

The AP-5 Multipurpose Wireless Access Controller is designed for a broad range of applications and can control one or two door strikes, mag-locks, barrier gates, automatic gates, or door operators. Its wireless design and small size fits a variety of access control requirements.

The unit's built-in high-gain superheterodyne receiver picks up transmitter signals from up to 500 feet away. The optional EXA-2000 antenna can be used for additional range. Up to 480 Linear MegaCode® transmitters and six Model MGT supervised safety edge transmitters can be programmed into the AP-5’s memory. Up to 238 entry codes can be programmed for activation by one or more MegaCode® wireless keypads. The AP-5 will retain its memory, even without power.

Three dry contact relay outputs are provided. One relay is dedicated for access control, another dedicated for obstacle detection, and the third programmable for either access or obstacle. Access relays can be set for timed or latch-on/latch-off toggle operation. The on or off toggle state of a relay is maintained even after power interruption. For entrapment detection, obstacle relays activate from MGT safety edge transmitters and connect to the obstacle input of the access device. OPEN REQUEST input terminals are supplied for hardwired activation of the access devices with an external pushbutton or keyswitch.

The AP-5 monitors each MGT safety edge transmitter for hourly status reports, tamper signals, and low battery signals. A beep will sound every 5 seconds if a fault occurs and the trouble source can be displayed. An access transmitter must be activated twice to trigger the access relay if a supervisory trouble condition exists on any MGT transmitter.

The AP-5 can be powered from 12-24 Volts AC or DC. The Form C relay outputs can switch up to 1 Amp each. An EARTH GROUND terminal is provided as a recommended connection for maximum lightning and static protection.
